95.5 the Fish, Akron Racers partner up for Opening Day
AKRON, Ohio – May 4, 2012 – Akron Racers’ President/GM Joey Arrietta announced today a new partnership with 95.5 the Fish and Salem Communications to bring Morning Show host Len Howser and the Fish promotional team to Firestone Stadium for Opening Day 2012 on June 7 as the Akron Racers play host to the newly formed Carolina Diamonds.
“I look forward to introducing FISH listeners to Racers softball. As a dad with three daughters, fastpitch has been a big part of our family,” said Howser. “It doesn’t take long to fall in love with this sport. These girls earn your admiration and respect from the very first pitch. Lots of speed, skill and power. If you’ve never seen a 70 mph rise ball before you’ve got to come to a game!”
95.5 the Fish listeners will get to see Howser toss the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day for the Racers, and one lucky Fish listener will get the opportunity to be the “Fish Fan of the Game” on June 7. Fans can enter the online contest at www.akronracers.org/home by visiting the ‘Fan Central’ tab.
“We’re very happy to be partnering with a family-friendly station like the Fish,” said Arrietta. “Their message aligns with what we aim to provide each game at Firestone Stadium. Len [Howser] is very involved and passionate about softball through his daughter’s play so it’s a perfect fit for both of us.”
The winning fan will get the opportunity to experience batting practice with the Akron Racers and throw out a first pitch prior to the start of the game on Opening Day.
Tickets for Opening Day with the Racers are on sale now and can be ordered by calling the Racers office at 330-376-8188 or by visiting www.akronracers.org.
