Outon Returns to The Racers For 2015

Outon Returns to the Racers for 2015
Former C-USA Player of the Year inks deal with Racers
AKRON –Akron Racers, GM, Joey Arrietta announced today that catcher, Haley Outon will return for the 201 season. The strong-armed, Texas native provided the Racers with excellent depth behind the plate in her first season as a pro including a .967 fielding percentage.
“Haley Outon has a gun for an arm and that is exactly what we needed to limit offensive opportunities for our opponents,” remarked Arrietta. “The players are faster in the NPF and if you can take one step away from them that can easily save a run.”
Outon was acquired last season via free agency and made her NPF debut in the second game of the season against the Chicago Bandits.
“I am excited to come back to the Racers for another season. The passion my teammates have for the game and for each other on and off the field make the Racer environment the best, especially when we are all away from our family and friends,” noted Outon. “I also have so much respect for Joey and I am excited to see what all she has in store for us this year. I am looking to improve my hitting and I want to learn as much as I can about the hitters so I can call the best game for each of the pitchers.”
Hailing from Round Rock, Texas, Outon played her college softball at the University of Houston while majoring in Health with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. Outon holds the career record in home runs and RBI’s for the Cougars.
“My personal goals are to continue developing my game. As for the team, definitely win the 2015 NPF Championships. I’m thankful for Joey and the Racers who have given me the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love.”
