Akron’s first pick in the 2014 NPF Draft signs on for another season

Akron’s first pick in the 2014 NPF Draft signs on for another season
Akron, OH –Akron Racers GM, Joey Arrietta announced today that Hannah Campbell has agreed to a 2015 contract with the Racers. Campbell, the Racers first selection and the third pick overall in the 2014 NPF Draft is headed back to Akron for her second season in the league.
“This league is tough on rookie pitchers but I felt Hannah, as the season worn on, became better and better every time she went in the circle,” notes Arrietta. “She had excellent support from Lisa (Norris) and Rachele (Fico) which helped her adjust to the NPF.”
Campbell, along with teammate Rachele Fico, were tied for the league lead in games pitched with 23. In her six starts she recorded five wins while throwing a total of 59.1 innings.
“What makes me excited about returning with the Akron Racers is getting to play at this level of competition with a great group of people. Not only this team but everyone associated with the Racers are great to be around and it is truly a home away from home for the summer,” explains Campbell. “I am glad I get to be a part of this program again.”
Campbell joins a stellar group of pitchers who have committed to the Racers including Tulsa’s Aimee Creger, Mississippi State’s, Alison Owen and former USSSA & Rebellion ace, Sarah Pauly.
“Personally, my goal this season is to start where I left off last season. I felt I settled in about halfway through the season last year so my plan is to start stronger this season. I think this team is capable of winning it all this year.”
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Hannah played her college softball at the University of South Alabama, where she became one of the top pitchers in the country. In her senior season, she posted the second best ERA in the country (0.95 ERA) with 19 complete games and a perfect game against Nichols State. Campbell became the first female student-athlete from South Alabama to be drafted by a professional team.
