“Burn the Ships” is directed and produced by Think Media Studios’ Julia Thorndike and Danielle Miller. Following a year in the life of the Akron Racers, “Burn the Ships” tells the story of women's professional softball and its struggle to find security on behalf of those who have sacrificed for its future.
Led by Co-Owner and General Manager, Joey Arrietta, the Akron Racers are the oldest team in the National Pro Fastpitch league. Think Media Studios was inspired to tell the story of the Racers because of the passion and relentless dedication of Arietta and the players who fight for the sport they love.
“When Joey first shared her story with us, it was apparent that this league hasn’t struggled because people don’t care, but because people don’t know that it exists. We wanted to do something to help change that in hopes that someday, these women will earn what they deserve as the best softball players in the world.”
