AKRON, OH – The Akron Racers will be conducting an Open Tryout to provide elite players an opportunity to join the professional ranks this summer in Akron. The tryouts will be held at Firestone Stadium, home of the Racers, on Friday, May 26 at 9 a.m.
Those interested in trying out must fill out the registration application at, walk ups will not be permitted.  There is a $100 fee to tryout, which in addition to the tryout will also include lunch and a t-shirt provided by the Racers.  All tryout participants will be required to bring their own equipment, including cleats, gloves and bats.
Once you have filled out your application a member of the Racer organization will contact you by phone to give each participant the full rundown of required details for the tryout
Players trying out must be at least 21 years of age and it is highly recommended that you have exhausted your collegiate eligibility before joining an NPF team.
Those travelling for the tryout and needing to book a hotel can reserve a room through the Racers partner hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Akron-Canton Airport, by contacting them directly at 330-966-4907 and selecting option #2.  Tell the sales representative that you are booking the room as a part of the Akron Racers for a special rate.
The Racers look forward to meeting many aspiring softball players who will have the chance to help the team in its quest to return the Cowles Cup to Akron for the 2017 season.
About the Akron Racers: The Akron Racers, headquartered in Akron, OH, are the oldest existing team in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league, celebrating their 15th Season of Play in 2016. The Racers competed in the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL) for two seasons in 1999 and 2000 and in the NPF since 2004. Historic Firestone Stadium is home to the Racers and numerous amateur events at all levels of play.
