Akron, OH – The Akron Racers started their season with a three week stretch of away games. Upon returning to Firestone Stadium, it became apparent that playing on their home field was the push the Racers needed to dominate in the NPF.
Moving from fifth in the league to holding the second-place spot and winning all three of their home stand series, the Firestone Stadium based games seemed to get the Racers (13-10) rolling. In the span of two weeks, the team won their series with the Beijing Shougang Eagles (3-0), Chicago Bandits (2-1), and Texas Charge (2-1), falling to the USSSA Pride in their only game 3-2. Before heading on the road again, the Racers were able to place themselves on the leaderboard in numerous categories and walk away with a 7-3 home record. Akron leads the NPF with 31 home runs, 115 runs scored and 108 RBI.
“We love our fans here, Joey and the staff,” Thomas commented on their hot home streak. “They all put in so much work, so we know that makes it a little bit easier for everyone here at Firestone.”
