AKRON, OH – There’s only 16 home games left in the Akron Racers 2017 season, meaning the chances to see this year’s team at Firestone Stadium are growing rarer and more exciting. The Racers (17-15) are in the thick of the NPF playoff chase, currently residing in third place of the four-team playoff field.
With 16 home games left when Akron returns home on Tuesday, July 25 against the USSSA Pride at 7:05 p.m., there is still an opportunity to purchase the Gold Glove 10-Game Flex Package. After Akron outfielder A.J. Andrews was the first female athlete to be honored with a Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2016, the Racers organization developed a package to recognize Andrews’ achievement.
The package is ideal for fans who look to attend several games at Firestone Stadium. Along with your tickets to the 10 games of your choosing, at a discounted ticket price, fans who purchase the 10-Game Gold Glove Package will also receive a replica Rawlings Gold Glove Award. The package offers the choice between a $70 VIP package or a $60 Stadium or Terrace 10-Game Flex Pack.
Tuesday, August 1 will be the last chance to purchase a 10-Game Gold Glove Flex Package, so don’t miss your opportunity at this unique piece of historic memorabilia.
As an alternative to the 10-Game Flex Package, a Five-Game Flex Package is also available. Named after last season’s Rookie of the Year Sami Fagan, the Five-Game Flex Pack gives you the choice between a $35 VIP 5-Game Flex Pack or a $30 Stadium or Terrace Five-Game Flex Pack. At each game attended, the ticket holder will receive nightly stats and a copy of the game notes. The purchase of two Five-Game Flex Packages would also earn you a replica Rawlings Gold Glove.
The Racers have been led by outfielder Shellie Robinson who is first in the NPF with 21 RBI and second with six home runs and a .646 slugging percentage this season. Second baseman Ashley Thomas leads the league with 23 runs scored and shortstop Sami Fagan is tied for first with eight doubles. In the circle, pitchers Emily Weiman, Alexis Silkwood and Jailyn Ford have each recorded a team-high four victories this year.
The Racers enter the final homestand of the season on Tuesday, July 25 against the Pride for the first game of a four-game series with the Pride currently holding first place in the standings. To order a 10-Game Gold Glove Package or a Five-Game Rookie of the Year Flex Package contact the Racers ticket office at 330-376-8188.
